“Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully. And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others” (2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NLT). Paul’s admonition to the Corinthian church still rings true today. As God witnesses His people giving joyfully, He not only meets their needs, but He also provides resources for them to share with others. How we at Temple can testify to that truth! The more we are able to give toward mission and ministry, the greater the blessings we see!

To be honest, I have been a part of some remarkably generous churches through the years, but none of them rival the benevolent spirit and practice of Temple. Weekly, I see you meet the needs of our church family through budgetary giving while you also meet special opportunities with grace and determination. For example, this past Sunday many of you stepped up to partner with our Compassion Ministry project in Nicaragua by sponsoring a child. Thank you! This strategic partnership will help us not only push back against poverty, but it will also aid us in advancing Christ’s kingdom. (If you would like to sponsor one of the 160 children at our project, we will provide a website where you can go directly to make that happen.  Keep an eye out for link in future publications!) In addition to your generosity through Compassion International, you have also responded to the specific mission needs in Louisiana. To date, you have given $25,914 toward our goal of $27,500 for the Georgia Barnette State Missions Offering. Through these resources, you are supporting disaster relief efforts, church planting opportunities, etc. right here in our state. And what’s more? We are more than taking care of our local programs and work. We have even secured the initial funding that will enable us to upgrade our video/media resources so that we can begin streaming our worship services through social media platforms. This will allow us to communicate biblical truth with a much larger audience and hopefully reach more people for Christ.

My friends, thank you for your cheerful giving!  I am grateful for how our Lord has blessed us to carry out our work of ministry together. What a pleasure He has afforded me to be your pastor! Every day I grow more excited about what our Lord is doing in and through Temple Baptist Church. Let’s stay united! Let’s stay faithful! Let’s stay cheerful! See you Sunday!
