Upward Sports

Upward Sports exists to help players and parents discover Jesus Christ through sports.  Over 2,000 churches and half a million players across 47 states partner with Upward Sports, making it the largest Christian youth sports provider.  Temple Baptist Church chooses to partner with Upward Sports to provide an organized, safe, fun, encouraging, and Christ-centered program for Basketball and Cheerleading.  Our hope is that participants will develop mentally, athletically, socially, and spiritually.

The registration fee for Upward Basketball and Cheerleading mainly pays for our cost from the Upward Sports organization.  These fees also cover player jerseys, practice resources, coaching resources, and our end of season awards and celebration.  We are able to keep the cost of participating in Upward Basketball and Cheerleading low because of more than 120 volunteers that serve as coaches, referees, greeters, and speakers.  Scholarships are also available for many Upward participants.

Our season typically begins with registration during the month of November.  Registration can be done online or through our Family Life Center office.  After all players are registered we have player evaluations where players are able to show off their basketball skills and make sure of the correct uniform sizes.  Players are then placed on teams in an effort to create equally skilled teams.  Practice starts in early January once a week on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday night.  Games are played on Saturdays for six weeks beginning mid-January and going through the month of February.
